A new work from “Takemura Office & San Viña,” which has produced an editing board centered around good old Latin music, will be released. This time, we will be delivering works that focus on music from the Yucatan region of Mexico, Canción Yucateca (Yucateca Song).

Even if you say Mexico in one word, its land area is about 5 times the size of Japan. For that reason, each region has its own unique customs and culture. Above all, on the Yucatan Peninsula, which looks like it juts out into the Caribbean Sea, the Maya Empire, which used to be an Indian country, flourished, and their descendants still live today. Also, since it is close in terms of distance to Cuba, which is located on the opposite bank, there have been exchanges since ancient times, and they have nurtured a unique culture.

Above all, music from the Yucatan region, Canción Yucateca (Yucateca song), has an appeal that is hard to forget once you hear it, but the first person who quickly made this splendor known throughout Mexico and the world was Guti Cárdenas (1905-1932) from the same region who composed and sang songs himself. He left for Mexico City at age 18 and died at the young age of 27, but his achievements in spreading the appeal of Yucatan pop are worth mentioning.

This work, “A Collection of Lyric Songs from the Yucatan Region of Mexico,” is a masterpiece left by Cárdenas, and is popular songs by outstanding composers such as Ricardo Palmerín, Pepe Domínguez, and Domingo Casanova, which were first introduced in Japan by performances by Los Torres Diamantes, and centers around a dozen songs, such as the Yucatán Song 27 songs have been recorded, and songs have been selected so that you can quickly experience the diverse splendor of the Yucatan region's lyric songs.
