In "Galileo Galilei," players take on the role of 16th- and 17th-century astronomers, competing to contribute to the advancement of science through celestial observations and other activities.
This strategy game, full of respect for the pioneers who laid the foundations of modern astronomy, allows players to enjoy selecting and structuring actions based on their own plans, and features eye-catching artwork.
On each player's turn, they move their telescope on their personal board one to three spaces forward and perform two actions at the destination.
Actions include "observing celestial bodies and constellations," a basic source of points; "discovering a comet" to aid in observations; and "lecturing at a university," which increases points based on the action.
However, one of the two actions requires time to be able to be used again.
Therefore, players should plan their action order in advance.
Furthermore, during this era, forward-thinking ideas that went against dogma were viewed as dangerous by the church, so actions may result in the Inquisition's arrival.
The Inquisitor remains on each player's personal board, and if left unattended, he will ruin your reputation and significantly reduce your score at the end of the game.
For this reason, it is important to persuade him as needed to improve his reputation.
Players continue to take turns in this way, and the player with the most points at the end of the game will become the most renowned astronomer of the era and win.
