At age 16, he became the youngest winner of the world's three major guitar competitions: Ramirez (Spain), Alessandria (Italy), and Paris (France), a record that remains unbroken. A guitar prodigy with exceptional musicality and virtuosity, he has continued to thrive, devoting himself to international performances and earning rave reviews. ■ Yamashita released his first album on RCA in 1978 at the age of 17, and has since released nearly 90 albums.
