☆2014 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Richard Strauss (1864-1949). While various companies have released various Strauss albums, BR KRASSIK proudly presents the "Alpine Symphony" and "Four Symphonic Interludes from the Intermezzo" conducted by Welser-Möst. The "Alpine Symphony," premiered in 1915, is Strauss's greatest symphonic poem and symphony. Its inspiration was a mountain climb to the Zugspitze in the German Alps at the age of 14 or 15. It is a masterpiece, completed after 35 years of planning. The entire piece is performed seamlessly, from dawn on the mountain through landscapes of waterfalls and pastures, to a lost but successful summit. It then descends the mountain, stricken by a raging storm, and finally reaches sunset. Strauss's magnificent and intricate orchestrations capture every scene in detail, allowing listeners to enjoy a "virtual mountain climb" from the comfort of their own home. While the "Intermezzo" is a rarely performed opera depicting Strauss's "personal story," this "Symphonic Intermezzo" is a lively and beautiful piece, with every phrase eloquently delivered. This performance is sure to captivate your ears. Rather than moving the music along with dynamic movements, Möst's conducting emphasizes expressiveness, cherishing each phrase and scene. Enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful sound.
