★A collection of The Beatles' original mono UK single B-sides!
★A carefully crafted compilation of Eternal Grooves!
[Limited-edition digipack edition]
Since their debut in October 1962 with the single "Love Me Do," The Beatles enjoyed a string of hits, including "Please Please Me," "From Me to You," "She Loves You," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand."
At the time, they frantically wrote new songs between tours, and releasing a single every four months was a key mission.
And they delivered results with "Can't Buy Me Love," "A Hard Day's Night," "Ticket to Ride," and "Help!"
However, their B-sides are often overlooked.
But listening to the B-sides alone, in release order, will surprise you with new discoveries.
The versions included are based on the original UK singles.
The bonus tracks include alternate versions of the same songs as the UK single, where possible.
This album showcases the charm of another side of the world's greatest rock band, the Beatles.
1) P.S. I Love You
"P.S. I Love You" was only the fourth track recorded at EMI Studios.
A memorable moment occurs towards the end, with John, Paul, and George taking turns on vocals.
2) Ask Me Why
The B-side of "Please Please Me" is "Ask Me Why," from their Hamburg days.
Even R. Bernstein praised the level of perfection.
3) Thank You Girl
John and Paul's vocals are captivating throughout the track.
The UK single features a different mix of John's harmonica.
4) I'll Get You
A hidden gem, recorded along with "She Loves You" on July 1, 1963.
5) This Boy
A masterpiece with beautiful harmonies that belie his young talent.
6) You Can't Do That
Recorded on February 25, 1964, George's birthday, featuring a Rickenbacker 12-string.
7) Things We Said Today
B-side of "A Hard Day's Night."
Attractive minor and major key changes.
8) She's a Woman
B-side of "I Feel Fine."
Little Richard-style R&B, sung by Paul alone.
9) Yes It Is
A wonderful three-part chorus on the B-side of "Ticket to Ride."
George's volume playing creates a string-like atmosphere.
10) I'm Down
A perfect rock 'n' roll B-side of "Help!", recorded as a concert finale.
11) Rain
B-side of "Paperback Writer." Manipulating the tape speed and adding reverse-playing vocals creates a trippy feeling.
12) Baby You're A Rich Man
The B-side of "All You Need Is Love." Recorded entirely in one night, May 11, 1967.
13) I Am The Walrus
No explanation needed. This historic number symbolizes The Beatles in 1967.
