Hayao Miyazaki
Born in Tokyo in 1941. Animation film director.
After graduating from the Faculty of Political Science and Economics at Gakushuin University in 1963,
he joined Toei Animation (now Toei Animation). After working on the scenic design and key animation for the theatrical film "The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun" (1968), he moved to A Productions and was responsible for the original story, script, scene settings, and key animation for the theatrical feature film "Panda Kopanda" series (1972, 1973). He then worked at Zuiyo Eizo, Nippon Animation, and Telecom Animation Film, before participating in the founding of Studio Ghibli in 1985. His major works include the TV series "Future Boy Conan" (1978), and feature films such as "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro" (1979), "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (1984), "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" (1986), "My Neighbor Totoro" (1988), "Kiki's Delivery Service" (1989), "Porco Rosso" (1992), "Princess Mononoke" (1997), "Spirited Away" (2001), "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004), "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" (2008), and "The Wind Rises" (2013).
His books include "The Journey of Shuna," "The Starting Point," "The Turning Point," and "The Door to Books.
