The Prince Estate and Warner Bros. Records have jointly announced the release of the album "Piano & a Microphone 1983" on June 7th, which would have been Prince's 60th birthday if he were still alive. The 35-minute album, containing 9 tracks, features previously unreleased piano and vocal recordings of Prince recorded on cassette in his home studio in 1983. The album will be released on CDD, LP (import only), and a deluxe edition (CD+LP).

"These raw, intimate recordings were made early in Prince's career, just before he became a global star. In form, they are similar to the Piano & A Microphone Tour he did in 2016, the year he ended his career," said Troy Carter, advisor to the Prince Estate. The estate is pleased to give fans a glimpse into Prince's evolution and show that his career ultimately returned to piano and vocals. These private rehearsals offer a raw, intimate look into Prince's creative process. They include "17 Days" and "Purple Rain," which weren't released until 1984, a cover of Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You," and previously unreleased tracks like "Strange Relationship" and "International Lover" from his critically acclaimed 1987 album, *Sign o' the Times*. The album also includes the rare 19th-century spiritual "Mary Don't You Weep," which will be featured in the end credits of Spike Lee's film *Black & White*, released this August. For Prince fans, tracks 1-7 are presented as a natural live medley, just like the original recording. ≪CD≫ 1) 17 Days 2) Purple Rain 3) A Case of You 4) Mary Don't You Weep 5) Strange Relationship 6) International Lover 7) Wednesday 8) Cold Coffee & Cocaine 9) Why the Butterflies
