Made from 100% cotton, the loosely woven "mon" fabric offers excellent breathability and absorbency, becoming softer with use. The fabric is finished by soaking it in green tea extract (tea catechin), which provides natural deodorizing and antibacterial properties. It dries quickly and is portable. The brand name comes from the Japanese giant salamander, "Andrias japonicus." It inhabits the upper reaches of the Kamo River in Kyoto, where Maeda Dyeing's factory is located.
